Carnival of the Animals

I had such fun introducing the kids to Saint Saens’ Carnival of the Animals yesterday. It’s just such a delightful piece of music. We weren’t able to listen to all 14 movements at co-op due to time constraints, but it will be worth your time if you can!

Here are some extra resources to use to listen to the music or dig a little deeper.

Wikipedia did a great job of pulling out the different themes from each of the different movements: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnaval_aquarium.jpg

Ambleside Online (includes links to listen to this music, as well as the other music we’ve listened to and what we will be listening to in the coming weeks): https://www.amblesideonline.org/composers

The Aquarium movement is written for a glass harmonica, here’s a video of this very unique instrument: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t71bzSF3r_0
